From October 28 to 30, 2020, the German Federal Foreign Office, the Southeast Europe Association, and the Aspen Institute Germany organized an international conference with the title “Young People, Migration, and the Demographic Challenge in the Western Balkans.” The three-day online event was part of the official program of the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union and was hosted by Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and Minister of State Michael Roth. It included as participants ministers from the Western Balkans, representatives from the European Commission, experts and stakeholders from civil society and international organizations as well as youth representatives.
